You just might find some reptiles in there if you look carefullyKRAG were invited to help out Groundwork Kent & Medway as part of their environmental summer activities for children.  On a day of intermittent heavy showers we were blessed with a two hour window of dry weather for a Reptilemania event at Camer Park near Meopham.

These events are aimed at 5-12 year olds and we had a walk around the park talking about native reptiles, their habitat and how you might go about trying to find them.  Some roofing felt was laid out in long grass in the park a few weeks ago and despite being the middle of the day in the summer we were able to find both slow worm and common lizards.

A good time was had by all and the children were able to take away a cut out lizard with moving legs.  It will be inteesting to see what kind of colours they end up.

Thanks are due to Paul Koch and the team at Groundwork for their efforts in setting up this event.  Events such as these are an important part of infoming the general public about reptiles and how they can be conserved - as well as being great fun too!
